A gifted dancer has secured a place at Rambert, one of the UK’s most prestigious dance schools.
James Carroll, who is 18 and from Leigh, is currently studying for A-levels in Dance, Biology and English Combined at Winstanley College.
An ecstatic James said:
“I’ve been dancing since I was 5 at my local dance school; it’s always been my greatest passion so I decided to pursue it as a career by studying it further at dance college.
“I found the application process really interesting, it isn’t quite the same as normal university with UCAS (which I did as well) as many of the applications are directly to the dance colleges. I enjoyed the auditions process the most and getting to take classes at all the colleges and universities with really great teachers and other students was a very rewarding experience.
“In the future, I hope to become a performer. Dancing as part of a dance company would be really great before maybe moving into teaching dance and working on some of my own choreography.”
Kelly Birchall, Dance Tutor at Winstanley College added: “To get a place at Rambert is extremely impressive and is testament to the amazing talent that James has: many congratulations!”
