We were delighted to host our first ever Transition day this week. Pastoral staff from local high schools including, Dean Trust Wigan, Golborne, Byrchall, St Bede’s, Hawkley Hall, Kirkby, St Edmund Arrowsmith, Rose bridge and Haydock attended to find out about how the college supports students in their transition to college.
The day included presentations and a chance to network with various members of Winstanley’s support team to discuss items ranging from support for students with additional learning needs to careers advice and the role of the Personal Tutor.
Excellent feedback was received following the event with school staff commenting that they were encouraged by the college’s ‘extensive support network’. Angela Gregory, Welfare Manager said: ‘It’s been a chance to share good practice with our school colleagues and highlight the importance of sharing information on the most vulnerable students before they make the move up to further education.’
