This year, the English and Language department joined forces to celebrate National Poetry Day or ‘Jour de la poésie’.
Language students were asked to research and bring French/Spanish poems into college which were then read out and displayed around the department.
Meanwhile English students wrote their own poems and in an effort to spread National Poetry Day outside of the department, pinned them up in various locations all around college.
Flo Robles, French tutor commented: ‘We have had fun using poems as part of our learning and it is a great way to get a grasp of different styles of language. All of the students have been fantastic in terms of their contribution.’
Fran Pridham, English tutor, added: ‘Students have had great fun spreading their poetry ‘graffiti’ around college. We also had a cake and poetry session at break with the proceeds going towards charity, the Madagascan Wells fund.’
