It has been a busy and hugely successful month for Winstanley College sport teams who have been taking part in the AOC Sport Regionals. A number of individuals and teams have represented the college in a wide range of sports.
One of the many highlights was the Women’s Volleyball team qualifying to represent the North West at the National Championships for the second year in a row, beating Xaverian College in a high quality, tightly fought final.
Other qualifiers include Kim Baptista and Maria McPolin for Cross Country. This is the second year running that Maria has qualified for the Nationals. Kirsty McIntyre and Will Hughes have also qualified for the golf and Tom Dillon will represent the North West in Tennis.
College Sport Enrichment Officer, Ben Rutherford, who took many of the teams to the qualifiers commented: ‘It’s fantastic to see our outstanding students representing the college with such pride and enthusiasm in sport. They all did the college proud and are an absolute pleasure to work with.’
