Last week, a group of Winstanley College students and staff members were treated to the weird and wonderful sights of Stuttgart. A manufacturing powerhouse, famed for its science and engineering prowess, Stuttgart is home to the headquarters of world renowned companies Porsche, Bosch, Mercedes-Benz, Daimler AG and Dinkelacker.
Unsurprisingly, the trip included visits to the Mercedes factory which employs over 35,000 people and the Porsche museum. Here’s an interesting fact for you; Stuttgart is the only place in the world with two car museums! That could come in handy if you’re ever a contestant on The Chase.
Other highlights included: a walking tour of the city, an outing to the Natural History Museum and a trip to the zoo where students saw a host of exotic animals including: snow leopards, lions, tigers, elephants and polar bears to name but a few.
One of Stuttgart’s more unusual attractions is the Killesberg Tower, a 40m high, cable-stayed tower overlooking Killesbergpark that sways in the wind! Another quirky treat was the Schweinemuseum where students enjoyed a variety of wild and wacky exhibits, learned about the anatomy of a pig and even took part in a ‘selfie with a pig’ competition!
A great time was had by all.
