It was a sensational clean sweep of honours for Winstanley College in the 2018 Chemistry Olympiad with ALL fifteen participating students receiving either a Gold, Silver or Bronze award.
Run annually by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) in conjunction with Cambridge University, the Chemistry Olympiad is a leading, international chemistry competition that goes beyond standard A Level specifications. This year alone, over six thousand students sat the two-hour paper which is designed to challenge both their problem solving skills and ability to apply familiar knowledge to new, interesting contexts.
Andy Thomas, Head of Physical Sciences at Winstanley College said: “I am delighted that my initial optimism had rock solid foundations. This is the best performance from a cohort in my time at Winstanley College and the students should be very proud of their achievements.”
