Congratulations to our Biology students who performed brilliantly in the 2018 British Biology Olympiad.
Run annually by the Royal Society of Biology for students aged 16-18, the British Biology Olympiad covers all aspects of the topics covered during two full years of A Level Biology, which incidentally, is what makes the achievements of this year’s group particularly special.
The vast majority of participants were first year students who had only covered around a third of the topics before sitting the paper earlier this year. Silver award recipients Joshua Killilea and Vishal Chahwala were the only second year students.
Proud Teacher Jo Convery, who also deserves special recognition, said: “All the students did fantastically well and really demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Biology. I am incredibly proud of them all and can’t wait to see what the students who completed the challenge in their first year of study can do next year”.
Students who were awarded either a Silver or Bronze award were also invited to enter a ballot for tickets to attend the ‘Royal Society of Biology Education Awards’ ceremony. Mia Eager was fortunate enough to obtain a ticket and is looking forward to attending this summer.
