This week’s Throwback Thursday is Dominic Gane, a student at Winstanley from 2009 to 2011.
Dominic studied History, Law and Government & Politics at A-level before going on to a Law with Politics degree at the University of Manchester. He then completed an LPC with the University of Law, and secured a training contract with Addleshaw Goddard, an international business law firm with six offices in the UK and international offices in Dubai, Qatar, Oman, Singapore, Hong Kong and Hamburg.
Dominic says: ‘The main thing Winstanley did for me was to give me the opportunity to study topics that hadn’t been available to me before. These were subjects I had an interest in but, at the time, knew very little about. Elaine Mulroy (Politics) and Jacqui Vitali (Law) ran classes that were not only engaging (and even entertaining!) but were so informative that in my third year at University I was still looking back on the notes they had given me in my first year!
‘I now work primarily with large institutional investors and FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies. My work includes drafting and negotiating different property documents in respect of estate management for institutional commercial landlords, disposals and acquisitions of high value commercial property, and multi-billion pound developments. In recent months the Commercial Property team was ranked Tier 1 in Manchester by The Legal 500 (the only firm to be given a Tier 1 ranking in Manchester), and the national team was named Real Estate Team of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2019.’
