This week’s throwback Thursday is Scott MacDonald who is currently training to qualify as a Chartered and European Patent Attorney.
Scott attended Winstanley College from 2011 until 2013 and studied A Levels in Chemistry, Biology and Maths.
After Winstanley, he went on to study Chemistry at the University of Manchester and graduated with a first class degree.
A Chartered and European Patent Attorney is a specialist lawyer who represents clients in obtaining legal protection for inventions and acts in all matters and procedures relating to patent law and practice.
Scott told us that; “Throughout school, I was always torn between a career in law or science. In the end, I chose to pursue a degree in chemistry. I thoroughly enjoyed my degree course, but my interest in law always remained. After University, I considered careers in pharmaceuticals, energy and healthcare. However, after reading a number of patents for my degree project’s literature review, and subsequently delving deeper into the subject, I discovered that a career combining both law and science did in fact exist.”
Day to day, Scott works with a number of well-known companies, helping them to protect their cutting-edge technologies around the world. To date, Scott has worked on a wide array of technologies from state of the art medical products and pharmaceuticals to novel chocolates and confectioneries.”
