Congratulations to Lower Sixth student, Lily George, who has won second place in the highly prestigious Newnham Esssay Prize competition, run by The University of Cambridge.
All female students currently in Year 12 at a UK school may enter the prizes, which are offered in Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, History, Modern and Medieval Languages, Music, Philosophy and Psychological and Behavioural Sciences. Lily entered the Computer Science Essay competition where she had to write about the impressive-sounding topic of ‘cryptocurrencies’.
Lily’s Computer Science teacher, Helen Pollard, commented: ‘I’m so proud of Lily for gaining second prize for her essay on this challenging topic. It will really support her UCAS applications and shows what an outstanding she is – well done Lily!’
Lily wins £200 for achieving second place.
