The unit provides a foundation for the study of organic chemistry and physical chemistry. This includes the study of several different functional groups, enthalpy changes, rates and equilibrium. It also covers some modern analytical techniques and issues regarding the applications of organic chemistry to everyday life. |

The unit provides a deeper knowledge and understanding of how organic chemistry shapes the natural world and how organic chemicals provide many important materials. It includes the application of some of the important instrumentation techniques used in organic and forensic analysis. |
