Students explore typography using both traditional and/or contemporary fonts in their work. You will work within a specific discipline and show understanding of the design constraints within that commercial application (the brief must be attached to the finished artwork). Evidence of the design process, and of the many alternative solutions that have been considered, must also be demonstrated through rough visuals.

Finished artwork may be in any appropriate media or technique. You may adopt an exploratory approach to the integrated use of materials and processes, reflecting contemporary practice within this area.

You may use photography as part of this specialism, however you are expected to work in a vocational context for example editorial, fashion and advertising.

All imagery should be your original work, although manipulation of secondary sources through various technical processes is acceptable as long as it only represents a proportion of the overall work, for instance, the use of trade processed colour prints, laser copies or digitally enhanced images, using
software such as Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, Flash, Premiere Pro.
