Over 2000 high school students visited Winstanley during the first week of July, for the college’s annual Year 10 Master Classes and Year 11 Taster Days.
The action-packed week saw Year 10s from twenty different high schools attend the college for master classes in a range of subjects, enjoying activities such as a firing a ‘spud rocket’ in Physics to lively debate in Politics. The classes are aimed at helping students make decisions about what college subjects to apply for when they start their college applications next year.
Separate Year 11 taster days were also held for school leavers who have applied to join Winstanley this September. Aside from sampling a ‘real’ college timetable, students enjoyed a tasty barbeque, experienced zorbing, sipped at mocktails and were entertained by the college’s music students. Future medics , dentists and vets were also given a preview of the programme that they will be eligible including a practical lesson in suturing and CPR.
