National Results League Tables

Winstanley’s students’ A level achievements have placed the college second in the Government’s performance tables. Principal Jo Barker: “We are thrilled to be ranked second of all colleges in the Government’s performance tables for the second year running. At Winstanley we pride ourselves on our academic excellence, with a total of 45 of our students currently at Oxford or Cambridge universities. At the same time the College is developing its links with local schools to enable even more of Wigan’s young people to access the special ‘Winstanley experience’.”
This outstanding academic performance is well above the national average. In 2009 the national average points score at A level was 739.1 and Winstanley students achieved an average points score of 1098.3.
One in five of Winstanley’s students achieved three or more A grades at A level this year which is an outstanding achievement. This is almost double the national average.
You may be interested to note that we came higher in the league table than the prestigious Eton as well London St Paul's schools. Expect our students to be running the country soon!
