Applications for 2021 are now closed; please contact admissions@winstanley.ac.uk if you have any queries
Due to Covid 19, our interview evenings will be done over the phone. Anyone who has booked an interview slot will be contacted on the date and time they booked by one of our tutors. It will be an informal and friendly discussion around course choices and a chance to ask any questions about life at Winstanley. Following the interview applicants will be given their offer of a place for September.
Entry Policy
Year 10
Many students start to think about their life after high school as early as Year 10. Students from Year 10 are invited to our Masterclasses at the end of the year, usually at the end of June. If you’re not sure whether your school is attending Masterclasses, ask your Head of Year or drop our Admissions Team an email on admissions@winstanley.ac.uk.
Year 11
If you haven’t already, start to think about your options for post-16 further education and training. This could be at a sixth-form college, employer or other training provider. There are so many opportunities open to young people, including A-Level study, vocational qualifications and apprenticeships – if you’re not sure which route to take after high school, contact your careers guidance officer or visit the national careers service website: https://nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk/
If you have any specific questions about A-Level study, or recent A-Level reforms, do explore our prospectus page or drop our admissions team an email.
September – November
- Presentation in your school
Most of our feeder schools will have a presentation in the first half term, providing you with all of the key dates and details you need to start your application to Winstanley.
- Open evening
We have 2 open evenings in the winter term:
- Thursday 15 October 2020
- Wednesday 4 November 2020
Open Evenings are subject to the latest Covid 19 guidance. Please check our website and social media for the latest updates or call Admissions on 01695 628610.
For some students, this will be the first time they visit the college – so make sure you come along and take the opportunity to find out more about college life, our courses and what it’s like to be a student.
- Application
The easiest way to apply to Winstanley is directly through our website. Some of our local partner schools use the UCAS progress website instead, we don’t mind which you use, but there is no need to do both. The final deadline for applications is Friday 26th February 2021.
November – February
- Course Discussion
Once you’ve made your application, you’ll be given a date for your course discussion. This is another opportunity to come to college and meet with our specialist team to discuss your post-16 options. You’ll be able to find out which combinations of courses might work best for you, and receive guidance on how to move on to the next stage of your career – whether it be university, further education, employment or apprenticeships. You must attend a course discussion before an offer of a place is made, if the date you’ve been given for your course discussion doesn’t quite work for you – don’t hesitate to drop our Admissions Team an email to admissions@winstanley.ac.uk to reschedule.

- Taster Day
Every student who has applied to college will be invited to join us for a Taster Day in July once they have taken their GCSE examinations. Your teachers may give you reading or research tasks to carry out over the summer break to ensure you can make the best start to life at Winstanley.
2020 Year 11 Taster Days are Thursday 2 and Friday 3 July.
