Students at Winstanley College have earned the praise of the exam board AQA for their contribution to the community and their involvement in enrichment activities. 88 Winstanley students completed the new AQA Baccalaureate qualification and AQA were so impressed with the range of activities undertaken by our students and the commitment they showed that they’ve featured their experiences on their own website.
The AQA Baccalaureate is a new qualification designed to accredit students for the experience they gain and the skills they develop outside their A level studies. Students have undertaken voluntary work at Wigan and Leigh Hospice, they’ve appeared in college productions and they’ve participated in a variety of community projects in Wigan and abroad. ‘It’s not all about exams’, says Principal, Jo Barker, ‘and this qualification just goes to show that!’
