Winstanley College is proud to announces its outstanding achievement as the number 1 state school in Greater Manchester for Oxbridge admissions.

A total of 23 of the college’s students progressed to one of the country's top two universities after leaving at the end of the 2019/20 academic year, according to newly released data from the Department for Education.

Grant Fletcher, Winstanley College’s Oxbridge Coordinator commented: ‘We are lucky to have dedicated students who are committed to putting in the best application with our support. This recent data reinforces that our extensive Oxbridge programme works.’

Louise Tipping, Principal, added: ‘It’s encouraging to see nationally the increasing number of state school students being given the chance to study at these prestigious institutions and we are delighted to be at the forefront for progression to Oxbridge in the Greater Manchester area. We work closely with local high schools to promote progression to higher education and to ensure that students from postcodes with traditionally low rates of progression are given extra support and encouragement.’
