Guide to Enrolment

Once the application process is complete in February and your GCSEs are over you can start to focus on your progression to Winstanley College. In June and July, the College will host transitional activities such as Taster Days and tours to enable you to experience the College environment before you join in September. We will also distribute bridging activities to help with the transition from GCSE to A-level (or equivalent) study.

Enrolment will start in July with Stage 1, our online enrolment form, and finish with Stage 2, a face-to-face discussion on enrolment day in August, which is usually the 3rd Thursday in August, but this will be confirmed closer to the time.

Stage 1: Completing online enrolment

An exciting new future is waiting for you! We can’t wait for you to join us at Winstanley College in September.

We will open the online enrolment form in July after the final year 11 summer events.

To begin the online enrolment process, you will need to access your unique enrolment form. To complete the form you will need

  • your email address
  • date of birth
  • a digital passport-size photo clearly identifying your face likeness

Online Enrolment Form

This will open in June 2024. If you have any problems completing the form please contact the admissions team via email admissions@winstanley.ac.uk

Stage 2: Face to face enrolment

Enrolment day is usually on GCSE results day and is a great celebration of success at school in the morning with your family and friends followed by confirming your place at Winstanley College and looking forward to the future.

We will contact all students who have completed the application process in July to assign an enrolment time slot on usually GCSE results day or the day after.

You are invited to bring a family member with you for what will be a supportive discussion to ensure you are enrolling onto the right courses for you. Don’t worry, if you are unhappy with any of the initial course choices that you made during your course discussion, you can change them on enrolment day. You will have the opportunity to speak to subject teachers, college support staff, and senior leaders to ensure you are happy with the decision you make regarding your programme of study at Winstanley College. You will need to bring:

  • Copies of certificates for any qualifications you have achieved

Step by Step process

  1. arrive and register at D block entrance, collecting your enrolment form
  2. enter the canteen and hand write your GCSE grades onto the enrolment form
  3. be welcomed in the IT suite by a member of the college staff who will check and input your GCSE scores
  4. head over to our subject specialist staff for your enrolment discussion
  5. once you are happy that your enrolment is complete and you have all your questions answered you can go and celebrate with your family and friends

During your enrolment, you will be allocated a date for your Induction. We hold three lower sixth induction days and you will be invited to attend one. With only a third of your year on-site, this creates a great opportunity to meet your Personal Tutor, teaching staff, and some of your classmates. You will also be told when the first full day of college starts.

On Holiday on Enrolment day

If you will be on holiday on enrolment day please contact admissions@winstanley.ac.uk beforehand to arrange a later enrolment date. You must also arrange for your results to be sent to the college by 5 pm on enrolment day by email to confirm you have met the College entry policy and guarantee your place. This can be done by contacting admissions on 01695 633244 or via admissions@winstanley.ac.uk

We wish you the very best for results day and look forward to welcoming you to the college as an official Winstanley student!

What should I do if I don’t get the grades I was hoping for?

Can I enrol at more than one college?

You should only enrol at one college, the enrolment process is the final stage of your application and once you have enrolled, you are confirming that you will be attending that college.
