High Flyer Will goes for Gold

Good luck to Lower Sixth student, Will Jackson, who has qualified to compete in The English Schools Athletics competition in Birmingham from the 29th June to the 1st July.
Will, a former St Bede’s Catholic High School pupil, will be competing in the in High Jump having won the qualifying round of the competition with an impressive 2.00 meter jump! Will has been a member of Wigan Harriers Athletic Club since the age of 13 and will represent Greater Manchester Schools in the competition.
Alongside athletics, Will is studying for A-levels in Maths, Physics and Chemistry, he said: “I was very happy to qualify for the competition. Last year I achieved Silver, this year it would be great to come back with a medal but mostly I just enjoy competing at such an impressive location – the Commonwealth Games Stadium.’
Louise Tipping, Principal of Winstanley College added: ‘I am very pleased and proud to hear that Will has qualified for this impressive competition. We wish him the best of luck and will be following the results board closely!’
