Oxbridge offers are in!

Over the next few weeks and months, we will be celebrating the university and apprenticeship offers our Year 13 students are receiving.

Two of the first universities to announce their offers are the iconic Oxford and Cambridge and we are immensely proud of the sixteen Winstanley students who have been made offers for September 2024,

Offers span across a wide range of subjects including medicine, archaeology, English and more. Almost all the successful applicants came to Winstanley from state schools in and around the borough. 

College Principal, Louise Tipping said: ‘Congratulations to our Oxbridge offer holders - it is a much-deserved result after months of preparation. We are proud to be the number one state school in Greater Manchester for Oxbridge admissions* and we work closely with local high schools to ensure that students from postcodes with traditionally low rates of progression are given extra support and encouragement. There are many more offers coming in from other prestigious universities and apprenticeship providers and we look forward to celebrating these in the coming weeks.’

One of the offer holders, Ester Hattingh, who previously attended The Deanery High School and is holding an offer for medicine commented: ‘Because I have such an interest in medicine, I found the application and interview process enjoyable as I could talk about something I was passionate about. I’m grateful for all the support I was given at college and now have a few months of hard work to try and ensure I get the grades needed for my place at Oxford.’
