This week’s Throwback Thursday spotlights Aaron Bentley, whose journey took him from A-level Music and Music Technology to the professional world of sound design.

Since leaving Winstanley in 2014, Aaron has carved out a successful career in the music industry. Now, he recently contributed to the latest Olivia Dean video, So Easy (To Fall In Love), where he was responsible for the sound design and atmospheric elements that set the tone for the entire piece.

Aaron says:
‘Studying Music and Music Technology at Winstanley gave me a solid foundation in both the creative and technical sides of sound. That balance has been crucial throughout my career. After college, I went on to study at Leeds Conservatoire, which helped me refine my skills and eventually led me into sound production."

At GAS Music, I get to work on a wide range of projects—from commercials to high-profile music videos. It’s all about creating immersive audio experiences that elevate the visuals. I love the challenge of shaping sound to tell a story.’

Aaron has also stayed connected to the Winstanley community, returning for careers days to share his journey and inspire future musicians and producers.

His story highlights the versatility of Music and Music Technology. Whether it’s composition, performance, or production, the skills students develop can open doors to exciting and varied careers.
