Winstanley College Celebrate 20 Oxbridge Offers

An impressive 20 Winstanley College students have received offers for Oxbridge and Cambridge for September 2026. Eight offers are for Cambridge and 12 are for Oxford.

The offers span across a wide range of subjects from Medicine and Natural Sciences to Education and History, highlighting the diversity of interests of the successful students.

Olivia Frost, a former Dean Trust Rose Bridge pupil was taking part in a social sciences trip to Copenhagen when she received the offer.  Olivia, whose offer is for ‘Education’ commented: ‘I was in the queue at the airport when the news came through on my phone. I couldn’t believe it; it made an already amazing trip even more special and was especially pertinent since we visited a school to learn about the Danish education system and one of my degree modules will be comparative education.’

All the students holding offers studied at state schools around the borough before joining Winstanley, this includes 4 former St Edmund Arrowsmith pupils.

Principal, Simon Lett, commented: ‘We are thrilled with the news of the offers. The application process is rigorous, and it is a much-deserved result after months of preparation. Thank you also to the staff who run our Oxbridge preparatory programme, supporting applicants from initial interest through to securing their place.

Oxford and Cambridge are amongst the first universities to distribute their offers and we look forward to celebrating more university and apprenticeship places as they come in. ‘
