Higher Education Event Inspires Winstanley Students
Back
College welcomed a wide range of universities and higher education providers to campus today for its annual Higher Education Event, giving students the chance to explore their next steps and speak directly with representatives from across the sector. The event brought together a diverse mix of Russell Group, specialist, creative and local providers, allowing students to compare options, ask questions and gain a clearer understanding of life beyond college.
Lower Sixth students attended as part of their wider progression programme, benefiting from early exposure to course choices, entry requirements and student experiences, while Upper Sixth students were able to reconnect with universities they have already applied to or received offers from. The informal, conversational format encouraged meaningful discussions and helped students feel more confident and informed about their future plans.
Students responded positively to the opportunity, with one commenting: “It was really helpful to be able to speak to so many universities in one place. I was able to ask questions I wouldn’t have thought of before, and it’s made me feel much more confident about my choices.” Dedicated information stands, including UCAS and Oxbridge support, alongside Winstanley College representatives, ensured students could access tailored advice and guidance throughout the day.
Simon Lett, Principal of Winstanley College, said: “Events like this are vital in helping our students make informed decisions about their futures. We are extremely grateful to all the universities and partners who took the time to attend and support our students today, and for the valuable insight and encouragement they continue to provide.”
