Most Impactful Communications Award at the Educate Awards

We’re delighted that Winstanley College has been nominated for the Most Impactful Communications Award at the Educate Awards
This nomination recognises the work of our whole Marketing and Liaison Team, but it also reflects the contribution of colleagues across the whole College community. Every story we share begins with someone creating an opportunity, supporting a student or achieving something worth celebrating.
Over the past year, the team has brought those stories to life through the weekly newsletter, student led social media content, school visits and events. They have helped thousands of young people and their families get to know Winstanley, ask questions and feel confident about their next steps. Throughout the academic we received more applications than ever and this converted into the Colleges largest ever enrollment.
Our communications have also opened doors for students. When the Manchester Evening News held its Makerfield by-election hustings at the College, more than 180 people attended and our 22-student Winstanley TV team filmed and livestreamed the event. It was a brilliant example of students gaining experience whilst helping their community take part in an important conversation.
The reach of this work has been remarkable: our TikTok videos have passed one million views, more than 2,000 Year 10 pupils joined our Masterclasses in July and over 1,200 students attended our Year 11 New Student Day. Behind every figure is careful planning, thoughtful communication and a warm welcome from staff across the College.
Thank you to the Marketing and Liaison Team for their creativity, care and hard work. Thank you, too, to the teachers, support staff, students, alumni and partner schools who share their ideas, welcome visitors and make these stories possible.
Whatever the outcome of the award, this nomination is a chance to celebrate what we can achieve together as a College community.
