Throwback Thursday - Liam Joseph Wilcock

This week we’re proud to shine a spotlight on former student Liam Joseph Wilcock, who studied A-level Accounting, Business and History at Winstanley College from 2023 to 2025. During his time at College, Liam built a strong academic foundation and developed a clear focus on progressing into a career within accounting.

After leaving Winstanley College in 2025, Liam progressed straight into an Accounting Trainee Apprenticeship, which he is currently undertaking at Ryan’s. This role is allowing him to put his subject knowledge into practice, gain hands-on industry experience and continue developing the professional skills needed to succeed in the accounting sector.

Reflecting on his journey, Liam’s advice to current students is simple but important: keep applying and don’t stop. Put yourself forward for as many opportunities as possible and don’t be discouraged by setbacks. Take the time to research your chosen career path, understand the skills employers are looking for and work towards building them. Persistence, resilience and determination can open doors.
