Twenty  talented students from Winstanley College were selected to take part in the prestigious Economics Olympiad North West Final. Chosen through a rigorous economic theory test, the students competed against some of the brightest young economists in the region.

The regional final took place at Lancaster University yesterday (Wednesday), where competitors faced challenging economic problems designed to test their analytical skills, reasoning, and understanding of global economic issues. A strong performance at this stage offered the opportunity to progress to the national final in London, and ultimately to the grand international final in Greece this August.

In what has already been a highly successful year for Winstanley’s economists, two standout students—Olivia Mower and Nicholas Tickle—secured their places in the national London final, following exceptional performances. Their achievement places them among the top young economists in the country.

Head of Economics, Helen Gordon, praised all 20 competitors for their hard work and commitment.

“This was a tremendous accomplishment for our students, being selected for the North West Final is an honour and Olivia and Nicholas progressing even further was truly outstanding. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and excited to see how they perform at the next stage.”
