On Tuesday, 3 March, students took part in an exciting Work Taster Day that brought together employers from healthcare, sport, finance, the creative industries and the life sciences. The day was designed to give students a meaningful insight into real career pathways and help them make more informed decisions about their future options.

Throughout the event, students engaged in practical, employer‑led workshops that showcased a wide range of professions. Wigan NHS Trust introduced students to the world of orthoptics, Tranmere Rovers offered a dynamic look at sports media, KPMG shared the realities of finance and accounting, Scene Graphics explored the creative possibilities of graphic design, and Bachem provided a fascinating window into laboratory and life sciences work.

Reflecting on the value of these experiences, Cherry Grocutt, Careers and Employer Engagement Manager, said: “Giving students the chance to experience real workplaces and interact with professionals is invaluable. These taster sessions ignite curiosity, build confidence, and help young people realise the range of opportunities available to them. We are incredibly grateful to all the employers who supported the day and made it such an inspiring experience for our students.”
