Twenty-five science students recently took part in a Chemistry Challenge run by The University of Cambridge.

The prestigious competition aims to stretch and challenge students interested in chemistry and provides an excellent experience for anyone considering taking their studies further. Set by an experienced team of teachers and university chemists, it is designed to take Year 12 students significantly beyond the syllabus and encourage them to think about science in the way they would at university.

All the students who entered completed the challenge successfully, and were presented certificates by college principal, Louise Tipping.

Mhairi Birchall, the students’ chemistry teacher commented: ‘The students should be extremely proud of themselves for completing this challenge; the level of knowledge and skills needed to achieve the certificate is extremely high and they feel very confident going into degree level chemistry study. Congratulations!’
