Thomas Walsh

Frontend Software Engineer

Back

This week we are catching up with Thomas Walsh, former Winstanley and Bridgewater High student who now works as a Frontend Software Engineer for Treasure Data, an award-wining software company.

Thomas attended Winstanley from 2009 – 2011 and studied Computing, Physics, Maths and Further Maths. After he completed his A-levels, Thomas went on to study Software Engineering at the University of Sheffield - which currently ranks within the country’s top twenty universities for a computing degree! Thomas also went on to complete a PhD following his postgraduate study.

After completing his degree, Thomas secured a graduate Software Engineer role with Redgate Software, based in Cambridge, where he worked on industry leading tooling for Database Management. Since then, Thomas has gone to work at Treasure Data, where he helps organisations to make sense – and use – of the masses of data they hold!

When asked what advice he would give to prospect Winstanley students, Thomas said:

‘Keep a learning mindset in whatever you're doing. There's always more to learn! Also, don't be afraid to fail!’

Where could Winstanley take you? Take a look at the wide range of subjects we offer here.
